New Heart

Christian School

WELCOMES YOU

We have exciting news! Since you all have been following Esther's story for the past year (we couldn't have fought as hard as we did without your prayers, meals, donations, and flexibility!), you have most likely seen and heard about #EsthersMiracle and EsthersMiracle.org. Since Esther charged Jim and myself "to help other kids with ports" (which is what she wanted to do when she grew up), New Heart Christian School is expanding to become Esther's Miracle, Inc. and host a number of special programs - in addition to NHCS.

Esther's Miracle, Inc. plan was adopted by the Board of Directors on 4/15/23. The goals of NHCS remain the same, with a slight change in emphasis on our community service projects to serve "kids with ports" (kids and their families impacted by cancer and other childhood diseases).  NHCS' Facebook page will reflect this update for the rest of the year as Esther's Miracle / New Heart Christian School. We will also have a separate NHCS Group hosted by Esther's Miracle page. There will be individual Groups for each of Esther's Miracle programs (details to come soon).

We're excited to continue partnering with you and your families as God continues to grow this mission. We're blessed beyond measure to partner with you, your children, and both our local and global community to see EVERY child grow up and fulfill the special plans God has for his/her life.

New Heart Christian is a new,

one-of-a-kind, flexible,

donations-based, exempt school!

Our Vision is that All children will learn through the special gifts, talents, abilities, and desires God has placed in their hearts, bodies, and minds to fulfill the special plans He has for their lives and His glory.

(Romans 12:6a - 1 Corinthians 12:4-6)

Our Mission is to provide all children with the opportunity to discover the special plans God has for their lives and to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill those plans for His glory.

(Jeremiah 29:11 - Ephesians 2:10)

We have plans to grow several branches on our NHCS tree - our first branch is our “flexible” school.  Eventually, we will add our child care and preschool, increase our discovery classes/workshops, a recreational room for students to hang out in, and a fellowship hall for families to socialize anytime.

NEBRASKA EXEMPT (HOME) SCHOOL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

(2020/21 School Year - current as of May 28, 2021)

A. LAWS AND RULES

A1. What is the law regarding "home schooling" in Nebraska?

Parents/Legal Guardians may educate their child at home by electing not to meet State approval or accreditation requirements (Section 79-1601 R.R.S.). In Nebraska, "home schools" are referred to as exempt schools and are considered non-approved and non-accredited private schools. Exempt schools can also be outside the child’s home and have students from more than one family.  By filing for and receiving exempt status, parents are electing not to have their child attend a school that meets State approval or accreditation requirements while also complying with the mandatory school attendance law (Section 79-201 R.R.S.).

A2. What is Rule 13?

Rule 13 is the state regulation governing the procedures and standards for filing for an exemption rom State approval and accreditation requirements. The rule can be accessed from the Exempt School Program website at www.education.ne.gov/fos/exempt-schools/.
